RG Connect brings together a broad range of stakeholders from investors to professionals, policymakers, academics and entrepreneurs and a key element of the event is the range of young startups attending. One of the reasons we love bringing the community together at our annual conference is to because it gives our alumni startups a platform to promote their businesses and engage with our community. At our upcoming RG Connect19 conference, to be held in London next Saturday 5th October, nine innovative young startups, who have taken part Reload Greece programmes and other international accelerator programmes in London, will be exhibiting and pitching their businesses. Each startup will pitch their business to an esteemed panel of investor judges and an audience of conference attendees, and one startup will be awarded the RG Connect19 Startup Award.
A successful year for RG Connect18 Startup Award winner
Last year biotech startup Entomics Biosystems, who transform food waste into sustainable, renewable resources with the use of insects, won our RG Challenge18 programme, and they were one of the ten RG alumni startups who exhibited and pitched at our RG Connect18 conference. After their Co-Founder and CEO, Fotis Fotiadis, pitched their innovative startup to investors at RG Connect18, they went on to win the RG Connect18 Startup Award.
Since winning two Reload Greece awards last year, Entomics have doubled the size of their team, moved to new offices, expanded their R&D activities to new labs and raised substantial funding. This year, the startup’s transition is evident as we look forward to hearing Fotis speak at RG Connect19, where he will be sharing his experiences developing the startup, in the ‘Circular Economy & Sustainability’ panel session moderated by Lyda Modiano, Director of Wide Strategy, who is a studying Fellow at CISL (the Cambridge Institute for Sustainable Leadership).
