The RG YEP Matching Event is one of our favourite events of the year and last Saturday’s Matching Event didn’t disappoint! It was a significant day as the 14 final RG YEP business ideas, chosen to accelerate to the next phase of the Young Entrepreneurs Programme, were announced. Held at London Business School, the event brought together entrepreneurs, mentors, corporates, academics and volunteers to match the finalist entrepreneurs with their dedicated mentors and to help develop their MedTech, FinTech, AgriTech, GreenTech, Tourism, Social Impact, BioTech and Science Engineering ideas.
The event kicked off with an introduction to our work and the impact of this year’s RG YEP Ignite phase. Next the audience gained inspiration from successful entrepreneurs who shared their own entrepreneurial stories. Social Entrepreneur and Community Manager at GROW Observatory, Pavlos Georgiadis, shared his interesting entrepreneurial story and spoke on how sustainable development can attract the minds that have left Greece and the Founders of A.I. personal stylist Intelistyle, Kostas Koukoravas and Michael Michelis, shared their inspiring startup journey since participating in the RG YEP programme. Watch this space for their sessions which we’ll be sharing on video soon. Next, it was inspiring to hear each finalist team pitch their business ideas and the 14 specialist RG YEP mentors (from companies such as HSBC, Expedia, Smith & Nephew and Lloyds), introduced their work and mentoring experience. Our mentors are so passionate and motivated and it’s always fantastic to hear how much they enjoy mentoring. As the excitement built, the mentor-mentee matching took place and it was great to see the energy between the idea holders and their specialist mentors. With a clear synergy in skills, experience and needs, I’m sure that the teams will all work very well together and we’re proud to now introduce the mentee-mentor teams!
